First of all, I believe there is God, my faith taught me so and for some reason I strongly believe there is no greater and meaningful explanation of life and all that is than the presence of supernatural being we call God. I can’t identify myself as a “Religious” person, not to the traditional meaning of that word apparently.
I have listened to atheists and their points, scientists also with their theories but I still remain with my belief which is founded on the basis of knowledge, I have made an informed decision that God do exist.
I do envy some religious people, those people who have unquestionable belief in God, they do not have questions about God but some of the very same people have made me sit back and think, is everything that happens is God’s will? Does God really know our beginning until the end of our lives? Is God our daily planner that we are living each day on what he has planned, all the daily events are according to what he wishes.
I know this is a sensitive topic to some people, God loves us and he gave us brain to think. We can never be as smart as he is but at `least we can make a good use of our brains by diving deep into our hearts and ask ourselves if the message that was delivered to us (Africans), the idea we have of God that in its entirety contradicts with our forefather’s beliefs is a hundred percent accurate.
My biggest dilemma comes from the fact that there is hell; place for wrong doers/ sinners to be punished for following the Satan.
God directs our path, and for the sake of understanding let’s call him “THE DIRECTOR”, in this; all that is in universe is part of God’s cast, we human being the main actors in this movie we call life. Let’s take this example, you are a movie director who has gone through script over and over again, you know all the twists and turns, you have mapped everything on your mind and you can see all that you need your actors to present to perfection. My biggest question is, if you have given an actor a villain role, wouldn’t you give him credit if he acts according to the script and your vision???
Why would the director punish the actor who gave life to the script? If it’s true that everything we do, all the moves we make are exactly as God wanted us to be, hell is of no use as we don’t have control.
My version of God though is this, he loves us, intervenes in our favor but he gave us choice. God has nothing to do with the sins we do, it hurts him every single time we leave the right path. As loving as he is, he presents himself in many ways to show us the right way but in the end it is upon us to choose which way we want to go. Not everything is God’s plan, we are not his slaves he lets us choose that’s why he gave us brain in the first place.
If we all agree that God gives us all choice, to choose between right and wrong, we choose the path we want to go then it’s safe to also think that our circumstances are dictated not only by God but also our own forms of limitations. We doubt ourselves so much that we find an excuse, the biggest being “This is what God has planned for me” and may be is in heaven shrugging “I don’t know who told this idiot I planned for him/ her to suffer and be evil”.
God’s Love is the greatest “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Mathew 7:11
